April 29th, a day that will live in funfamy! That’s a neologism, folks! A mash-up of “fun” and “infamy”! For what better way to describe the cinematic perplexity that is 1974’s sci-fi classic Zardoz?
Buffalo’s North Park Theatre played host to me and my wily shenanigans this past Sarurday as I hosted Zardoz, (because hey, why not?) Family, friends, fans and a few anonymous victims turned up and provided a pretty decent crowd for this film. I donned an Egyptian klaft and did a little song and dance before the show, forever cementing my legacy as Buffalo’s premier showman! (Take a knee, Lance Diamond.)
Here are a few moments from the big night. Thanks again to everyone who came out!
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for: instructions from Zardoz on how to enjoy Zardoz. I created this cartoon (which ran before the movie) as a spoonful of sugar for the audience. It is rich in irony, and most satirical.
My comics for the rest of this month may be a little sporadic. I am working hard on a movie poster and animated short to accompany a showing of Zardoz, the 1974 Sean Connery sci-fi classic, which is running for one night only on April 29th at the North Park Theater in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. I myself am hosting (and roasting) the event!
I’ll be showing off my work as it progresses, but here are a few sketches of the poster in development. And if you live in Buffalo, (or within three hours driving distance) come and see the show later this month!
Prepare to meet a Jason you have never met before! on Tom Waters’ “Big Words I Know By Heart” vidcast! I talk cartoons, politics, my one-man abusive bromance with Scott Adams… everything that matters to me and therefor you! Just remember: the camera adds ten pounds and makes your voice go up three octaves.
Sorry for the tardiness in my 10/8 update. All that sweet tenderness is hard to draw. I much prefer napalm enema art! Further in my defense, I had to journey to my hometown of Buffalo, NY this past weekend to spawn as well as to unload some product at the Buffalo Comic-Con. The show was an awesome one-day event and I had to beat my fans off with a stick! (Then I realized that using my hand was more pleasurable for both of us.)
Anyway, the usual mayhem ensued.

No! Please! Don’t take me, Death! I have so much to live for! (Okay, that’s a lie, but I just got back into Dexter, and I really want to find out… what? He kills Deborah in the season finale?? Whoa, that’s darker than I expected!)

Awesome Darth Wolverine costume, dude! I mean, it’s a little conceptual, and I don’t get what the tube of NyQuil is for, but points for imagination!
