I never realize it until Jim and llkjasdlfkjlkjsdf brought it up, but Blondie’s neighbor Herb and the mailman look exactly alike. Is there a Freudian significance?
The Phenomenon of Herb and the mailman looking so much alike is very complex. Many a generation in suburbia has grown up with lots of kids looking like the mailman, the milkman, the TV repairman, Etc. Until someone figures out why that is so, the matter will remain a mystery to dads everywhere.
I think Alexander’s right about what a “roth” is (although I thought it was a way to save for retirement). Hilda could be saying, “There’s a wraith! A wraith! I saw it! I saw it flying around!”
Kinda funny.. the mailman still manages to make his rounds, even though it’s a lost city, the mail gets through. Wonder what will happen in tomorrow’s update (you’re updating Weds, right Jason? 🙂 ). Go Chuck! Go Snoop!!
HERB!!!!
He’s going to get run over by Dagwood fleeing Snoop!!
so awesome
What’s a roth?
Jim – Herb lives next door. This is the mailman.
Her ”I’s” are missing dots. Hahaha
Wow I feel stupid, I totally missed the “I’s missing dots” joke, until MonkeyD pointed it out.
captcha haiku: wanted snafu
We’ll just take these home, run them over with a fine tooth comb, cross the “t”s and dot the… lower case “j”s.

Hmm… Did Hewey meet the Phantom? The \X\ on his chin seems very similar to the \good mark\ the Phantom gives his friends.
Couldn’t find a good image of the mark, but here’s a couple of the ring:

I believe that what Hilda is calling “roth” is a “wraith.”
And the mailman’s name is Mr. Beasley…
Annie’s comment is somewhat dire – makes you wonder if they don’t have some Hugo Drax “plan” to repopulate with only what *they* consider the ideal.

It could also be “a ghost!”.

Love the subtle joke about Anne’s eyes, that maybe she doesn’t “see” something.
