OK. . . the Rose and Crown was Andy Capp’s favorite pub, the streetsign namechecks “9 Chickweed Lane”, the movie marquee skewers “Priscilla’s Pop” and “Boots and Her Buddies”, the Thimble refers to the old strip “Thimble Theater” that later evolved into “Popeye”, and “Boozles Root Beer” might be a reference to a certain “Bloom County” strip. Beattie Blvd., the “Butchie’s Fatty Snax” sign, and the “Six Chix with Dix” movie poster still escape me. Nicely done!

What were all those men, women and children doing outside a porn theater? Waiting in line?

Beattie Blvd. was a strip that ran 1986-1997. Butchie is a character in “Mutts” who runs Fatty Snax Deli.

“Six Chix with Dix” could be “Dykes to Watch Out For”, maybe? This is turning into a regular League of Extraordinary Gentlemen type experience!

Well DONE, Ben! You others too. Still having trouble with the movie poster, huh? Someone will get it.

A little Google-Fu reveals it. I’d never heard of “Six Chix” before, but it’s not too bad; six different female cartoonists take turns drawing one-panel gag strips.

Oh, and belaboring the obvious: “Bone City” itself must be the “B.C.” referenced in an earlier panel. I can’t wait to see what you’ve done with *that* strip. . . . (That is Clumsy Carp getting his face ripped off on the cover of “Blockhead’s War”, yes?)

Ten different comics referenced in one panel. I salute you, sir.

The Fatty Snax deli is/was a common location for the Mutts comic where the dog and cat would pine over the delicious treats behind glass.

Is that the famous femur from “2001: A Space Odyssey?”
