Nooo, not the Garf! I thought they were going to just set him free!

But then, it would be ludicrous to think anything is going to go according to plan at this point.

P.S. Love the nice color artwork at the top of the page.

They cant! If the garf dies, any hope for humanity to live dies with it.

There’s something bittersweet about the “My friends call me Hughie” line, since it sounds like they’re otherwise bringing about The End of the World as We Know It.

Agree with Brandi, Hugie’s about to die.

But what’s the point of Garf Minus Garf if there’s no John to look like an insecure, depressed ass?

Casey Ruggles? That’s obscure, man, and I’m old.
Once this is all wrapped up in a nice fat grafik novel, you should consider annotations. Some of this stuff I never would have gotten without the handy tags. And I’m old.

Awww man, you know that just means Calvin’s going to have one last “oogah boogah I’m not dead yet” moment 🙁

After all, we see him recover from outrageous injuries. Sure, it was a megaton punch from Chuck, but all it did was break most of his bones, lose his teeth and snap his neck. I figure if his body’s not atomized, he’ll be right as rain in a day at most, and he’s been floating in a pile of extraordinarily nutritious sludge for a while already.

If he’s not back when Chuck gets down there, I at least expect him as a recurring villain.

    “My friends call me Hughie.”

Since X is the black guy, and following the horror-movie cliche “The black guy always dies” I’m expecting monkeygentelman’s oogah boogah prediction will come true… in that case, X should be saying:

    “My friends call me dead.”

Maybe it’s just me. Or maybe it’s just the booze talking. Or maybe my corn flakes really picked up on it, but it seems to me (or at least the corn flakes) that Annie was trying to tell them something a little more complicated than what they thought she was saying.

As I understand it, the garf is an endless source of food and in this post-apoc world, that’s the most important thing you can have. So if the Syndies get it, they’ll become kings, but at least humanity will survive.

Basically, I can only see a few basic lines of logic running through our heroes’s heads:
    1. It’s better that humanity die out than survive and be ruled by the syndicate.
    2. If we can’t have the garf and guaranteed survival, we want to be sure that no one else does either.
    3. Without the garf, the syndicate will fall apart as humanity slowly starves to death. But, thanks to the wonders of poorly understood evolution, the last few humans will evolve beyond the need for sustenance, ushering in a new era of never hungry people.

Somebody’s been watching too much Faux News.
    1) At no point has it been stated everybody will die if the Garf is killed. His existence makes life much easier. And if your goal is enslavement of everyone else, than making your life easier is not good for the human race.
    2) Life under servitude is not pleasant. Ask any surviving slave. (Aside from those who play-act for pleasure) Part of the reason for breaking the spirit is to make sure they no longer have the gumption to remove themselves from the world and thus deprive the jackals (slave owners) of the benefits of forced servitude of others. Slave owners due very poorly without slaves. Slaves do much better without slave owners.
    3) Humanity does not survive under those conditions as neither the slave nor the slave owner remain human.

the way I see it a worm always eats everything and produces shit that we plant things in to produce food or things that food eats

what else does the box say?

Something just occurred to me… regardless of what happens next, as long as the Garf is killed/released, the kudzu goes without and without any reports from Cal or any of the underlings, I’m thinking the syndicate will investigate and become plant food…

Could be wrong of course, but that’s my guess for how the big wigs of the syndicate go out.

    @Frank

‘Hughie’ is Huey from The Boondocks. Aside from being a great comic strip (which has ended), it was also a brilliant animated series that was on Adult Swim.
