I Ain’t Too Proud to Beg!
Dear Blockheads,
With a little more than 24 hours left to go, the Weapon Brown: Hardcore campaign still has a distance to travel to meet its goal. I have been all set to admit “you can’t win ’em all” and move on, but frankly, I have a lot riding on this, so I thought I’d make one final appeal to the folks who have brought my career this far.
The reality is that the comic book industry has changed a lot from when I first Kickstarted Weapon Brown, something I learned when I tried to make a go of Kobayashi Maru. It is no longer possible to even communicate with most comic book publishers through phone or e-mail. if you don’t know an editor or have some other inside track, there is virtually no way to pitch a comic book project anywhere.
Weapon Brown was a fluke. It caught fire in a different era. But I cannot realistically self-publish any longer. I will have to travel to shows to make some connections if I hope to advance my career, and I can’t afford to do that without products to sell.
You have all done plenty for me in the past, and I know that most of you certainly don’t need another five pound copy of Weapon Brown on your shelf. (Even one with a jazzy new cover!) But if you’d like to hold the football for me one more time, I am still dumb enough to try and kick it.
Maybe Weapon Brown was my magnum opus, or maybe I have one more in me… I’d sure like to find out! Please consider pledging. But if you’ve already given all that you can give, you are still awesome just for reading this far! Thanks!
Maybe work more on comics and spend less tim shitting on Jon Stewart for not being enough of a revolutionary.
