I think he is still scared that the dad is going to get bored with Clarissa and starts going for him
Who knows he might have been the victim before she was born
I feel like Randy is lowkey terrified of his own father. Maybe his dad used him too? Before Clarissa I mean. Or maybe he feels kinda guilty but is too scared to talk about it.
I don’t think the dad did anything to Randy, just from Sean’s attitude. He obviously doesn’t like Clarissa and I think it’s because he resents her for shattering the image of his dad as a good person, like “everything was fine until SHE ruined everything”. If Daddy did do anything to Randy, Sean doesn’t know about it. The setup with both the brothers being older implies Daddy wasn’t interested in them, and they’re both boys and Clarissa is a girl, so I figured that was the reason. Either Daddy isn’t into boys, or he respects a boy’s rights more than a girl’s, or both – the family does seem to emphasise stereotypical gender roles.
this shocks and breaks my heart too much. everything is a charade, and this groteque theatre is kept up for the sake of the monster. Over compensating mothers and one brother who is reveling in cruel jests and the other, god only knows. Perhaps he is hiding his trauma so that one could keep with appearances.
powerfully written. I am seeing this now.
I just discovered this, and reading through it. Jeeze. This is heavy. The faces in the second to last panel though. Sean and his Father becoming the same person. Sean will carry on the cycle of abuse if he isn’t already carrying it out on poor Randy. This reads as though the father has been abusing each one of them with Sean being the furthest removed now, old enough that he hasn’t been of interest to his father for a long time and that now he gets to revel in it in his own way. And god the look that Clarissa and Randy share in the 3rd and 4th panel. The newest victim and the previous victim brought relief by her arrival.
I’m impressed by some of the people here.I mean,i can just see that Randy was abused too,and in this same morning by his father(he says that he came back for his good pen=Clarissa)and the “normal” is Clarissa being abused instead of Randy.Clarissa clearly (and sadly)seem to be more used to that than Randy so she agrees with her father.
I might be reading into this a bit more than you meant, but Randy seems to be aware that he dodged a bullet by being a boy.

it seems randy is the only sane one there besides clarissa. I hope theres a strip where they properly talk about it or something

This story is fucked up. But really well done.
Sean seems like he’s following his father’s footsteps.
This is hard to read.

Wonder what it’d be like if it was the mom who was the abusive pedo and it was the dad who was depressed and hatefully jealous of his daughter?
