Clarissa Saves Halloween-Part 4
UPDATE:
I got handed an opportunity I couldn’t resist to see The Rise of Skywalker early. The final portion of Clarissa Saves Halloween will come Saturday at the latest (I know, “promises promises”! Here: read my review!)
…
THANK YOU!
Last week it struck me that while it seems that every chud and their mother has a website, Twitter account or YouTube channel that gets hundreds of comments daily, I was lucky to get two or three a week. I really needed to know how many people were out there enjoying my work. I’m glad to see that I have so many weekly visitors! I hope you enjoy what you are getting.
If you didn’t announce yourself last week, please don’t hesitate to do so. We’re a family here, and we should all get to know each other better! (pours Kool-Aid.) I’m also thankful for the feedback you gave about what your favorite features are on this site. It will help me prioritize the site’s content, so keep the suggestions coming!
I was also grateful to hear how many people visit this site more than once a week. I am working hard to get myself into a position to post my strips more often, but this week, at least, your dreams are coming true! The FINAL installments of Clarissa Saves Halloween will arrive at last on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
As you all know, I am running a Kickstarter that I designed to help keep the content here coming on time. I appreciate everyone who has already pledged, but if you don’t have the money to spare, it is very easy to make a difference just by helping me promote the campaign! If you will only retweet this announcement you will be doing me a world of good!
Thank you again for your patience, and for chiming in!
Ah, Clarissa. That’s m’girl. Big heart and questionable methods. It’s wonderful. God bless us each and every one. Or something. Yeah.
Playa ! (with that costume too !)
Ooof, this one hurt… I love it
I just realised her costume is an apple with a razor blade in it… Jesus, that story…
I also just realised why I keep checking up on this comic when it only makes me feel bad. Everyone in this girl’s life just turns their backs and pretends nothing is happening so I feel like I can’t do that to her as well. Like I have to witness her suffering because to ignore it feels so wrong.
The story is her speaking metaphorically about her relationship with her brother, isn’t it? The apple is the happy family they pretend to have, the razor blade is her being fucked by her father, the brother blames her for the unstable household, while honestly knowing it wasn’t her fault. Am I in the ballpark?
JY: There is no right or wrong interpretation. I like the different ways people respond to my imagery.
Great stuff! First saw your work “Clarissa” on some somethingawful-esque site posted under “most fucked up webcomic ever” or something to that effect many years ago. Needless to say, it left a lasting impression and I’m happy to see new strips still regularly come out! I look forward to more Clarissa and hopefully a happy ending to her story, should I live to see it!
That little change in her face between the last two panels makes me tear up every time
Ohhh Smart girl
Jesus
She was talking about herself and the first time she was abused.
Most powerfull comic i had ever read. Lets hope that the author take all the time he needs and finish Clarissa’s story.
JY: Consider joining the Clarissa mailing list! Once I wrap Weapon Brown: Aftershock I’ve got plans to finally conclude Clarissa– but I am going to need to know there is enthusiasm for what is sure to be an undertaking! Just send a request to clarissa@whatisdeepfried.com!
This page hit me hard. Exploring the relationship between the siblings was an excellent idea for a comic. I wish more comics like this existed because it goes to show how much abuse affects not only the victim but everyone else who knows and loves the victim. I really hope that, when all is said and done, Clarissa will have the happy ending that she deserves and one day be able to smile again for real.
JY: Knock wood!
Holy. Shit.
