You beat me to it DrGonzo; is Daddy Warbucks, in a way, Chucks’ father?
Are Annie and Chuck, in a convoluted way siblings? Interesting…
On the other hand, I was so sure that carnivorous Kudzu was to have a role in Calvin’s’ demise.
I’ve learned not to attempt to divine to deeply into Mr Youngbluths’ designs and just enjoy the sadly shortening ride.
Still…. “Chuck! I AM your Father….”
You know how in a video game, sometimes you beat a boss and it’s way too easy, and then a friendly character says “Well done! Step through this door for your reward!” and you do, only for the door to lock behind you and you end up in a fight tougher than you’ve had yet?
Gotta go with Disastromatic and Sherlock on this one. CAL is way gone, barring some insane cardboard-box-duplicator shenanigans. The opponent Chuck “never saw coming” has to be Anne somehow, because of the characters who would carry enough emotional impact on betrayal Pops lost Olive, Riley is too obvious, Blondie has no motive and everyone else is dead. That leaves either a return of a character from Peanut Scorned or Anne.
I’m really liking the idea that Anne may be the opponent Chuck ‘never saw coming’… She’s clearly indicated that she’ll do anything to protect her people, and Chuck… If he’s not going to be one of them, then he’s a potential threat.
That, or she’s *also* a ‘Weapon Brown’ program derivative… and just needs a code word to set her off.
Calling it now: Daddy Warbucks used to be Syndicate. Any takers?
I just wanna know how much shit he’s going to drop on ol’ Chuck.
It’s a trick. Get an axe.

I’m with DrGonzo. Maybe Chuck has a past with hiim? And my first attempt with captcha has words cut in half. What’s up with that?

Getting that vibe here.
This should be interesting! Recall that the ‘Chief’ was an officer in the war; Brown was still a boy at the time.
The Yellow Kid? Han und Fritz? Or…The Schultz himself?
Captcha: xmrhyde has his theories but will not be his rojardi.
My money says “the guy that oversaw the Weapon Brown program”.
Any takers?
Maybe there is no big surprise, and it’s just Warbucks in a hospital bed, about to go the way of Uncle Dust.
BTW, where’s Annie’s imitator, Little Annie Rooney? Will she turn out to be a member of the Syndicate?

Hamburger = Chuck.
Ketchup = Annie.
Hamburger has ketchup. He’s clear to enter.

“Three-Six-Oh, what’s your twenty?”
“I’m standing right next to you, you lug!”
“No, no, no! You GOTTA use the radio!”
Well now.
I’ve followed both runs, and this is still one of my top 5 favorite pages from the series.
