. . .
Yes, they DID have tons of shmoo, now it has Cal in it and is now thousands of gallons of Sugar bombs.
Even if it can replace itself indefinitely, it wouldn’t be wise to take out the source. Even if the syndicate want it, they dont know how to get it from the Garf. (least I think they dont)
Either way: never kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Everyone always learns that the hard way.
Actually, they shipped off the shmoo supplies long before Cal ended up as part of the solution instead of part of the problem. They even stated that not one transport was lost. Since the shmoo can replicate itself using sunlight to propogate the supply, it’s even easier to get it that way than waiting for the Garf to “sythesize” more.
In this case, it’s okay and wise to kille the “golden goose” when the “eggs” can increase in number exponentially simply by letting them have some sun. Besides, the Syndicate is know for two things: figuring out complex problems and royally screwing things up. I wouldn’t trust them with a bucket of warm piss, let alone the Garf.
(God, so many typos, I should know better to reply while suffering from the Martian Death Flu…)
Whatever happened to the carnivorous kudzu?
I can’t wait until CAL come back to life, revitalized by the shmoo which he has now merged with and can control. Since it’s influenced by the intentions of whoever touches it, CAL absorbs this feature, and becomes his own version of wishy washy justice.
Side plot: Hugie’s developing man-crush on WB influence the CAL shmoo to grow in the same admiration, thus cementing Weapon Brown as King and ruler of the new society… Yet as long as the Syndicate exists, WB still wears his crown upon a troubled brow…
What are you talking about, P-tricky? What? What?? I can’t make out what you said. Huh??
(the Captchas are getting so hard that soon ONLY computers will be able to read them!)
JY, with so many comic character deaths I hope you can tone the polls down in order to keep the story going. (I’m liking X, but he’s the black guy and will probably die, according to horror movie rules…)
Excellent work, as always. I hope the break from WB went well for you.
JY has an amazing attention to detail. Whose skulls are those in the last panel? I know they’re recognizable characters.. at least the smiling one.
Going to have to call it- CAL comes back as a slobbery creature from one of Waterson’s comics- maybe the dinner that fought back. Love the comic!
This fine work has the same artistic genius and emotional resonance as Moore’s \Watchmen.\ It’s darkly humorous, of course, but its treatment of classic newspaper comics moves far beyond parody into the realm of loving tribute that has something important to say. Something beyond my childhood is relived reading this.
Anyway, great stuff.
"NOTED."Is WB a racist or homophobic? Maybe he just don't like black guys named "X". I don't know.
JY: Chuck doesn’t like guys who shoot his dog is all.
FUCKING KNEW IT
Augh! The comments time-capsule is off by a day (as it was yesterday); as of this writing at least, today's comments refer to yesterday's art, yesterday's to the day before, and the day before's to (apparently) an April Fool version that was not reproduced this time around!(and captcha is boring this time around–strictly numbers.)
JY: What are you talking about? Everything is perfect! PERFECT!!!
Hmn…maybe if you reinstated the April Fools page, the comments would fix themselves?
JY: No, Elfglue… we must look forward to the future. Yesterday’s gone… yesterday’s gone.
