. . .
Small grammatical mistake:
“They’ll bring down the garage before we’ve gotten HALF our people out!”
Digging the OMAC reference there. Don’t forget to put a tag for Buck Rogers too…
I guess the Captcha thinks I’m putting on too much weight, it wants me to use a curatici portion.
Is Pops going to be the more boys? Kind of lets him be a badass without dealing with the unstoppable CAL.
WTF is this Captcha? I do not have these characters on my keyboard. I’m going to start spoofing Captcha. It seemed like such a good idea, help with digitization by identifying words unreadable by machine, but it’s become ridiculous with the stuff they put in there. It’s gone too far, I tell you. So one word it knows, the other is unknown. Let’s just make up crap for one word of each pair. I’m using the most offensive language I can think of. It should only take a couple of tries to get in anyway, and they deserve it for giving us mathematical formulas and Cyrillic letters. Oops, sorry about that rant, it just came out.
Wonder if the “Who’s your daddy” title is just a call-out, or if it’s planting the seeds for some sort of twist revelation about Cal and Chuck’s parentage.
Also, needs tag for Redeye.
Why do I have a feeling that there’s going to be a confrontation involving Daddy Warbucks sometime real soon?
Why do I feel a certain sense of glee at the idea that Warbucks booby-trapped his room to take out as many Syndies as possible?
Fridge door with comics stuck to it on the ‘bago. Nice. Who’s that we’re supposed to “believe” in, though?
Man, I’m not getting any of the comic references here– I’m slipping with my pop-cultural knowledge.
Hell, I even get upside-down Captchas, I just type them in as if they’re right-side up and they work LOL but I know what you mean, it’s nucking futs 🙂
Hopefully, next update we get Pops the Berserker Man, snortin’ spinach and taking spines LOL
@alternate Peanuts text: ROTFLMAO & TNTPM 🙂
@DSL: Not sure who the “Believe” is, cursory image search of Watterson and Schulz doesn’t match, I was thinking since it’s upside, that it might actually be a propaganda poster for Chairman Horns (his hair would fill the frame)….assuming Lord VoldeBluth is even reading, any clues?
OK, before the peyote wears off, I see in my hazy sights a situation where we find Daddy Warbucks (or whatever non-legally-inclusive derivation thereof) is not only behind Anne’s underground oasis, but as any good investor does, also is behind the Syndicate as well, playing both ends against the middle to maximize profits, because in the end, the guys with the most toys…..still dies at the gun of Weapon Brown (and C.A.L. if the Lord is willing, and the creek don’t rise 😉 )
Damn it, all gone, bye now LOL
Is that Hi an dLois driving the Winebago? Looks like them. The believe dude, at firs sight I thought he was one of Dick Tracy’s enemies (because of the part in the hair)…Probably wrong.
Driving the ‘Bago are The Lockhorns, bickering as usual. “Redeye,” I believe, was the name of the weird-looking horse in “Tumbleweeds.” The guy in the “Believe” poster looks kinda like Mandrake the Magician, except there’s no mustache.
I once saw some old “Wash Tubbs” strips in a book, but I wouldn’t have recognized Captain Easy as the gunner in this strip if his name hadn’t been in the tags.

Thanks for the edit, Destruya. As for who the man in the poster is, I’m going to let you all think on that a bit.
Captcha and I have the same thing on our minds: its Tits that
You only need to type in one word of the captcha.
And the man in the poster is not JY, in case anyone was thinking that LOL
I want to say that the guy in the Believe poster is William Randolph Hearst. Am I close?
Until this page showed up, I had no idea who the dude with the ‘fro was.
To everyone complaining about weird captchas:
As Grak just said, YOU ONLY NEED TO TYPE ONE WORD OF THE CAPTCHA. THE ONE WITH STRANGE FORMATIONS/NUMERALS/SPECIAL CHARACTERS OF ANY KIND MAY BE IGNORED OR REPLACED WITH A WORD OF YOUR CHOICE.
OK…I doubt that Brlieve” is a Baltimore reference, but is that Andy “Latka” Kaufman on the poster?
Hmm… At first I dismissed your idea of William R. Hearst, since he was a real life person, but after some googling, this came up: http://www.psu.edu/dept/inart10_110/inart10/hearst.html
Seems the guy more or less invented the comic syndicates, therefore making him into some sort of creator-god in a comic strip universe. An image search on him seems to confirm this, while I couldn’t find the exact pose from the poster, there is certainly a resemblance there.
From the link above:
“It was the publishing magnate Hearst who grasped the potential of the earliest “Sunday funnies” and turned them into a big, booming, modern business enterprise — eventually syndicating them from New York City into America’s hamlets and valleys, opening the gates for the great parade of comic stars to come.”
Oh, and Redeye is also the titular character from the comic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redeye_(comics)
It’s Marlon Brando, of course.
fuck, I dunno.
My God… how wrong you all are. I have never seen people so abjectly incorrect.
Is the Belive poster just supposed to be a parody of the Obama Change posters?
Wouldn’t that poster guy have something to do with Canada?
I think Captcha has dyslexia and is trying to hook up something in his car:
in the matter of the mystery man on the poster, i must say I HAVE no idea how so many people have spent their lives in A DREAM and do not listen to the simple charms of SPEECH.
Captcha is no longer after Dorothy. Who is eiusfer and why would the wicked witch of the captcha be after her/him/it?
Looks kind of like Max Fleischer, but I doubt it.
H-M- I was thinking of Shepard Fairey’s “Obey” posters, but I guess this does look more like his other work.
Okay, clue time: Carrie Henn is famous for screaming the name of the person in the poster.
JY, this person would be the same person who screamed “GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!!!” would it? Cause that would be rather appropriate.
In the Captcha Bar, the young transvestite hooker was introducing him/herself as Cai Fatrpn.
Ripley? As in “‘s Believe It Or Not”?
Dang! Of course, but then I completely forgot it was actually a comic strip at one time:
But the image is from a *movie* poster, hmmm….?
I’d wonder what relation he has to the current situation, but I know that’s looking for gold in a silver mine, as some guy named Reg said in a song, as asking Lord VoldeBluth a direct question is no way to get a straight answer, as a good portion of the above comments prove LOL
of freakin course.
btw, although he seldom drank beer, when he did he preferred Dos Equis.
If it isn’t Robert Ripley, it might just be Winsor McCay.
For the record, you only have to get one word right in the Captcha, but you can’t know which one. From my above attempt to spoof Captcha I can tell you, sometimes the weird looking word is the one it thinks it knows. So I’m gonna keep trying to screw with it.
@sherlock: Redeye was an entire strip unto itself. The title character was the chief of a tribe, and he had a wife named Masquaw and hot daughter. It was basically Hagar with Indians.
Of course Captain Easy survives! I followed his tenure as Sargent Easy during his WWII battles.
