I dunno, it seems both you and Bonnette give Bonnette far more credit than he deserves. (Unless you really are mocking him–oh, this cursed sea of ambiguities.) It looks to me like he just wanted to rehash the old “The President is screwing America” joke, but then he copped out and had an undefined Uncle Sam commit the rape instead. He not only mistakes his own gutlessness for cleverness but inflates it to genius in his own mind, which proves he’s just another douchbag. It’s only clever in the sense that he doesn’t actually label Obama a rapist but plants the association in the viewer’s mind. What the Akin controversy has to do with the economy is more of a stretch than one panel can communicate. Your interpretation is intriguing, but it’s hard to buy that it was intended.
