I think you ought to re-examine your premise, Jason. The entire base of Ryan’s plan, if you’ll notice during the vice presidential ‘debate’ (which was more of a dick waving contest between two imperialists), operates under the assumption that higher federal tax revenues are good. He comes from a supply side Lafferite theory which states that lower rates generate higher revenues. When you read closely between the lines and stop listening to rhetoric, Ryan and Romney both are devoted to expanding federal deficits. That neither of them have any ideology to speak of (Come on, Ryan was a mad proponent of the bailouts. And the fact that he couldn’t stick up for his own Medicare plan /as/ a voucher, which would be far superior imho, shows he has no legs to stand on and is a flop) shows that the political tides will carry them down a different stream than the one they profess. Romney is a warmongering corporatist and the only fiscal conservatives left in Congress are the tea party wing who carry a minority voice even amongst Republicans.

So no, the Ron Paul wing cannot ‘skeet’ over Ryan, despite the rhetoric in these debates. And we’re not all Randroids for that matter.

Actually, the beauty of picking Ryan is that they both steal their ideas from the same place; the American Enterprise Institute. Effectively we would be getting the Cheney puppet show all over again, because they were taking their terrible ideas from the New American Century playbook.

This is actually a lose-lose proposition for the Right. If they win, they spin us off into another recession through de-regulation (by then it will be triple-dip), increase the number of impoverished in America by (I don’t even want to guess the number of people) selective taxation, eliminating medicaid – but not medicare, etc etc etc. That might wake up some conservatives to the truth, but there will always be a way to blame Liberals for the failings of the Right.

They’ll eventually realize to their great surprise that, when only 1% of the population has disposable income, the entire economy will collapse. Who knew?

But the important thing is that government will be much smaller.

You have to love a Prez election, all the hype of a new Hollywood movie hypo charged in the dupa with industrial grade steroids. All to illustrate your “choice” as an American, either two Kens or those other guys OR which puppets to drive the circus train to Megiddo. So smile for that flash boys and girls at the end of the ride.
