Just a little bit of muzzle flip, there.

“Welcome to the party, pal!” – John McClane, Die Hard
I think that line applies to Huey in this case LOL
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:19 pm
Oh, well, fresh outta zorchers
And I wonder if the fragility of the paper airplane bullets was due to H.O.B.B.E.S. has left the playing field?
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:43 pm
Hmmmm, for such a strong guy, Cal sure does rely on his little guns a lot. I wonder why that is….? I’m happy to see that his hand is still mangled. Perhaps he does not heal as quickly as all the chatter in these comments lets on. I JUST WANT SOLID PUNCH TO CAL’S FACE from Chuck’s arm!!!!
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:45 pm
@punx: I think his fragile airplane rounds was due to the awesomeness of Chuck’s arm!
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:50 pm
Poor Hughie, falling down stairs suuucks
December 4th, 2011 at 12:08 am
@Steve: you might have a point, though we saw those bullet-planes shred the majority of the troops earlier on like they were made of steel or something, and now that I look, a few of them are embedded in Ol’ Sparky, so maybe they aren’t as weak as I thought
December 4th, 2011 at 12:09 am
3 inches further to the right with that plasma blast, and this whole fight ends cheap LOL
December 4th, 2011 at 12:50 am
Why aim for the gun? Why not simply shoot Cal in the head?
December 4th, 2011 at 1:25 am
@Steve – He does seem to avoid getting his hands dirty. Maybe he’s a deranged artist, like his namesake, or maybe there is something more. And maybe he needs a second to focus and heal – even though it’s been weeks for us, it’s only been seconds for them.
December 4th, 2011 at 1:40 am
Cal is a time lord. He can only heal himself right after a regeneration.

December 4th, 2011 at 5:20 am
Cal isn’t regenerating for a very good reason. His nervous system is messed up – HOBBES was bonded to it, and HOBBES is done like dinner. Have to wonder if Cal realizes he isn’t indestructible anymore.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:57 am
@Scruffy: I think that may have been why he looked so shocked after Chuck took out his hand…probably not since Dr. Van Pelt has Cal actually experienced any feeling or emotion near being vulnerable by any stretch, plus it may strike him finally when Snoop comes waltzing in with Hobb’s stuffed head in his mouth LOL
December 4th, 2011 at 8:30 am
Wonder if Cal might just live through this…maybe just “retire”…
December 4th, 2011 at 10:54 am
Is it just me, or does Calvin’s face (especially in the 3rd panel) look drained?
Almost as if he’s going through some rapid aging?
maybe ….. the more ‘doubt’ in Calvin’s mind – the more (needs a better word) drained he will look?
December 4th, 2011 at 11:16 am
I don’t think Huey aimed specifically for the gun, I think that’s all he managed to hit with an unfamiliar weapon.
December 4th, 2011 at 11:59 am
Don’t you hate it when your weapons get wrecked?
Also, did anybody warn Huey about the stairs?
December 4th, 2011 at 1:47 pm
rather gutsey of X… after all…
1) considering the first panel, Annie was rather close to Cal and the gun.
2) Chuck’s comment about dodging plasma indicates a wide spray area
3) Cal’s gun was hit in the barrel…
I hope Annie didn’t get caught in the plasma stream… that would suck.
December 4th, 2011 at 3:18 pm
^junii – I interpreted “no one can dodge plasma” as meaning that, as an energy weapon, it strikes at relativistic speeds. Doesn’t matter how fast you are; by the time you’re aware of it, it’s hit you.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:28 pm
*looks at X* Nice shot there Brickout.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:13 am
Now you know why Chuck uses that gun with Old Sparky, Hughie…
December 5th, 2011 at 5:36 am
I think Cal’s hand IS regenerating from panel 2 to 3.
@Avatar: IT KEEPS HAPPENING.
December 5th, 2011 at 6:02 am
I think Calvin will end his days when his spastic bladder finally gets the better of him and he strikes an iconic pose (as seen in the rear window of nearly every truck in Texas) while peeing on a high-voltage line of some sort.
December 5th, 2011 at 8:40 am
HeadCheese, we’ve already had the iconic pose from Cal, a few months back. I think I spazzed out right then and there; it was just a little too awesome.
December 5th, 2011 at 1:40 pm
The elevator that Anne called for is taking a long time to get there.
December 5th, 2011 at 2:51 pm
Today’s lesson: When you’re in a fight, don’t stand in front of a flight of stairs.
– Although the finished comic looks great, ReCaptcha thinks the `equicked original’s` even better.
December 5th, 2011 at 3:35 pm
Third panel?
That, right there, is a SLICE OF FRIED GOLD.
Apparently Captcha wants to make me royalty by giving me the “Elizabeth tedtment.”
December 6th, 2011 at 1:23 am
JY I don’t know if you intended it but all I could think about as X went “ass over teacups” down the steps was that bit with his little brother in the tv show with the shotgun.

December 6th, 2011 at 5:00 am
Hopefully Cal’s good hand was damaged. I’d also wish for him not to notice Hughie, but that’s bit far fetched. Even if Hughie wasn’t spotted before he dropped out of sight, he sure made a lot of noise when he left the party.
December 6th, 2011 at 12:59 pm
Peepants-
All unintended similarities to famous cartoon moments are intentional.
(Doctor Captcha prescribed me some Palliatives Outority, but I don’t think they are working)
December 6th, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Took me a while to understand the puff in panel four. Now that I get it, I must say, very well done. Would have been easy just putting the puff, but showing the arc gives extra detail we sometimes take for granted from you.

From SMBC comic today, a fine introspective by young chuck. http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db=comics&id=2454#comic
December 8th, 2011 at 11:49 am
I got a flurry of notifications about that SMBC strip. Ahem… what are you all doing over on that website when you should be here hitting the F5 button??
December 9th, 2011 at 5:35 pm
Wait, was this a knock of Agent Jay’s Noisy Cricket? (Which this model looks to have a silencer on?)
