Weapon Brown 226

Alright!! The site is alive again! You all thought me a failure… but who’s laughing and nursing a huge stress headache now??
The downage of the past few days was not a clever way for me to get out of updating the strip (although I will be adding that to my toolkit), but was instead caused by a hardware catastrophe on the server end compounded by a calamitous error in reloading my database and all the posts that go with it.
And as you can see, there has been damage. My site is now a time machine, and we have returned to January of this year. Many posts and strip updates you once thought were as dependable as the fossil record have, in fact, never occurred! The Marty McFly effects of this crisis are compounding hourly and I’ll probably need Doctor Who to help me riddle my way out of this.
So, I will be spending the next few days getting everything back into ship-shape,recreating the comic posts, etc. Feel free to e-mail me with any glitches you detect, weird cyrillic characters appearing where they shouldn’t and so on. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about site crashes is that they usually take half a year to fix… but we may not even have that long left. Think of it: 9/11, The Financial Crisis, Japan, and now…Whatisdeepfried.com. The Mayans predicted it, people.

First!

I knew if I kept refreshing every 20 seconds that it would finally load!
Seriously I thought that your site was suffering from a DoS attack or something.
Captcha is still a little loopy and probably just needs a punch in the face.. “exp(wkbzi derman”

Jason, did you lose everything, like physically? You still have the originals, right?
April 13th, 2011 at 7:17 pm
Yes, I have all my art and files. It was only a few months worth of blog posts, but…man!
Captcha said it best: You’re Essuill!
April 13th, 2011 at 9:01 pm
How lost are they? I’ll bet lots of them could be reconstructed from the Wayback Machine if you wanted – I’ve done that kind of thing before. Email me if you want to give it a shot.
Glad to see you back in the land of the online, though.

so two for flinching. awesome.
April 13th, 2011 at 10:13 pm
Nice knowing you, Busty Orphan Annie. So long and thanks for the mammaries.
April 13th, 2011 at 10:58 pm
Nice to see you back JY, and of course WB.
April 13th, 2011 at 11:38 pm
Thank god, I can now breath easily.

Love the dizzies above Chuck’s head. That’s a throwback. And is Cal making up Calvinball rules?
April 14th, 2011 at 12:22 am
No, the “two for flinching” rule is fairly common. I think if he starts making up Calvinball rules we’ll know it.

Like this site, Chuck has seen better days. But like this site, he’ll be back to your regularly-scheduled butt-kicking in no time.
April 14th, 2011 at 7:20 am
Ooooh shit. Oh much you bet that’ll she get horribly raped/tortured/killed (Off camera, of course) because of CAL psychotic misoginy? This is going to get ugly real quick, ugh…
Seriously, what is it with the allegedly good guys and their recklessness?
April 14th, 2011 at 7:37 am
Dude, sorry for your troubles. Getting my hijacked websites back wasn’t half the effort you’re going through. I feel for you man. But hey, you have about 20 months before the end of the world. You can get it done by then?
April 14th, 2011 at 11:14 am
Well, looks like we’re about a split second away from the image we’ve already seen of a mostly naked, bruised, battered, and armless Chuck in the preview. Oh, and I see some of those mysterious Cyrillic characters, they’re in the Captcha.
April 14th, 2011 at 8:48 pm
Does this mean Thursday’s comic is cancelled?
April 15th, 2011 at 4:30 am
You gonna be in Pittsburgh?!
April 15th, 2011 at 9:33 am
Is that Popeye behind her? Things are about to get ugly indeed. Especially if it’s the original Popeye character from Thimble Theater and not the weakling from the cartoons.
April 15th, 2011 at 9:36 am
Wait, was that Thursday’s comic or Monday’s comic?
Man, I hope Popeye makes this interesting.
April 15th, 2011 at 11:12 am
Sorry… No Pittsburgh this year. I think my first show this year may be Dragon*Con, but I’d like to do more. Basically I am sinking in to finishing weapon brown and want to steer all my resources there. But keep demanding my presence and I might show up in your town… or at your house with a bib on!
April 15th, 2011 at 11:37 am
Bet the Anne will put up one hell of a fight before Cal finally gets his hands around her throat. Pops will go down faster I think.
April 15th, 2011 at 11:54 am
Sorry Gus, that’s all for this week. The crash and repair fucked with my schedule bigtime. Regular updates next week!
April 15th, 2011 at 12:32 pm
Bummer. Well, this is my last con in Pgh with the Nightsquad crew… I’m off to Cali this summer; some fear it’s to become a homeless prostitute, but really I’m trying to get into animation.
Either way, you are totally welcome to show up with whatever accoutrements you please.
April 15th, 2011 at 1:38 pm
JY, glad to see you’re back. Anne, glad to see your front.

Dragon*Con confirmed? Excellent!! What kind of tribute do you prefer? Bottled, brunette, semi-automatic, or all three?
April 17th, 2011 at 10:23 am
There’s a doodad called Warrick which combines the mighty powers of the Internet Archive, Google, Bing, and Yahoo to thoroughly reconstruct downed websites. You should have a look.
Also, Mayans. THEY WARNED US ABOUT THAT TOO!
April 17th, 2011 at 11:10 pm
Fresh Brown tomorrow. Have only had 2 fresh browns in 2 weeks. Squeeze it out JY, please!
