Family freakshow!
March 29th, 2010 at 9:43 am
“And what’s your act called?”
“The aristocrats!”
March 29th, 2010 at 10:09 am
Nice tats, Bil.
Where’s Barfy and the others? Were they emergency rations?
March 29th, 2010 at 11:26 am
Jason as always your work continues to blow me away!
Seems appropriate that the family circus becomes one in “real” life. Touche!
Now one question… Maybe its just me but does the guy who is clapping look to anyone like either Fred Flintsone or George Jetson?
Captcha thinks its: Vernon Found!
March 29th, 2010 at 11:49 am
That looks like Bill from Family Circus crossed with Spider Jerusalem from Transmetropolitan. Or maybe he’s just supposed to be part of the freakshow. Whatever it is, it’s all badass.

Usually I don’t look at the tags anymore, so I can try and discern what I’m seeing first, though of course I eventualy do, if just to see if I’m right, but the image of the Aristocrat-ic Family Circus (I know somebody wondered in the comments if they would appear) set my week on fire, can’t wait till Wednesday for more!
March 29th, 2010 at 12:22 pm
And I just noticed this was in the Hideout, not the Syndicate’s R&D facility LOL
March 29th, 2010 at 12:49 pm
And the little freaks are performing inside a circle. How appropriate.
The guy who’s clapping looks like he’s from “Tumbleweeds.” Is he?

Holy cow! Chuck is a giant now????

@theo, they’re called stairs LOL

Magnificent job! I’ve always had a soft spot for the Family Circus (back in the 1980s and earlier), and the redesign is awesome.
And… and… HOW did you manage to make the characters from Motley’s Crew even MORE grotesque than the actually are?! (And will they serenade us with “Shout at the Devil” at some point?)
March 29th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
Ah, Sylvia!
March 29th, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Jeffy looks rather happy to have his chin in Dolly’s business. Second Captcha seems appropriate: owners seamier

I love that she’s juggling chainsaws. After juggling those kids (for how many years?) this must be a piece of cake for her.
March 29th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
There’s something wrong with this song.
March 30th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
Alright, I am going to show my ignorance and ask who is Mike Motley (both real time and on page) and why is he important to this page.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:02 pm
Everyone wants to be on a strip!
(Yeah, that was a poor pun.)
in blandly

@sentroller: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motley%27s_Crew
March 30th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
@sentroller: Mike is the balding gentlemen on the right side standing in front of the Cirque du Familie and his buddy Earl is next to him, both kind of looking Jetsonesque as Juanski mentioned
March 30th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
@sentroller: don’t know if I’d use the word “important” so much as surprise appearance to shake up the memories of those of us who remember them (old newspaper strips), as JY has been wont to do from time to time (Mutt & Jeff, Mary Worth, [T-]Rex Morgan)
March 30th, 2010 at 6:44 pm
I notice that Chuck is still “unarmed”; is Righty being held hostage, or is Lefty carrying it?
I can’t wait to see who else is in the Strip; please let there be frequent updates now!

@punx ; thanks for the link and information, this makes more sense now, I also vaguely recall this strip way up here in Canada though I never really read it, more glanced at and went directly to gorfield, I mean Garfield. Again thanks.
March 31st, 2010 at 1:09 pm
@sentroller: Yeah, when I was younger, a lot of these strips were part of my reading experience, and slowly the newspapers started cutting down the size and number of pages devoted to them, so they went away, sometimes without a warning or notice….a few years ago, my favorite paper just cold cut a whole page of comics, from 4 down to 3, then cut other strips and added others, and I have had to go online to follow some of them (not just WB LOL)….I remember Motley’s Crew and was enjoying long before I actually got the jokes therein…Involving myself in WB has allowed me to revisit some of these long lost friends, even if they aren’t as I remember them to be after JY gets done with them…..
@JY: HOW MUCH LONGER IS DF#4 GOING TO KNOCK THE SCHEDULE OF WB AROUND? Seriously, I’d rather you pull a two week hiatus of WB and get that damned thing done already than keep having the Monday/Wednesday knocked out of whack every week or so GRRRR (I won’t like it, but to wake up every Monday & Wednesday to fresh WB will make my pathetic little life worth living
)
March 31st, 2010 at 2:05 pm
@SW: I believe it’s still in the hallway Chuck left it in to divert Hughie and the troops so he could get hold of Anne a couple weeks back, soon to be reunited with him I hope, just like Snoop
March 31st, 2010 at 2:22 pm
@JY, the fact today’s (3/31) is being diverted to tomorrow (4/1) had better not mean another April Fool’s strip….I asked you nicely a few updates back not to do it, but then again, it’s not like you listen to anyone (not even yourself LOL) anyway
March 31st, 2010 at 3:48 pm
Hey, whatever happened to the chainsaw juggler? He was a friend of mine.
March 31st, 2010 at 4:53 pm
@SW and @punx: No, WB’s wearing his arm. He was wearing it when he visited Snoop in the operating room — why would he remove it? You’re seeing the big round “shoulder joint” of his arm in this scene and mistaking it for his “stump”.
March 31st, 2010 at 4:53 pm
Nah, he’s got it in the one (#146) where they’re walking past Marvin in the hallway – I just think it’s hidden behind Mike’s head and blurred by perspective.
March 31st, 2010 at 4:55 pm
@TheBruce: nice timing!
March 31st, 2010 at 6:07 pm
@TheBruce: you are right, forgot about that
March 31st, 2010 at 6:56 pm
Late strip. Sometime tonight. Can’t wait!!
March 31st, 2010 at 9:07 pm
mmmmm eye candy, going to be a sweet strip (and of course there is also going to be a April Fool gag about it, JY is just that kind of guy.) Although last years did bring a smile to my face, well a deep scowl but the mouth was involved.
March 31st, 2010 at 10:22 pm
@sentroller: my point exactly, I love Beepo n Roadkill, but I come to WB for WB and DF for DF, and the streams shant ever touch
March 31st, 2010 at 10:42 pm
OK, had an unrelated thought, which in WB is almost impossible, but here it is:
We know Pops is there in the Underground, does that necessarily mean Bluto is there too? Or are we about to see him as part of the Syndicate’s R&D facility where CAL v.1N is, as possibly a fighting coach/manager?
April 1st, 2010 at 7:05 am
Now I’m thinking I’d want to see Bluto and Pops in an abusive gay relationship.
