Split second there I lost my bearings as to what I was seeing here….I hate to say it, JY, but get that next pot of brew going and get Friday’s update going, because if I have to wait this long to see the next chapter after breaking my ass all day Friday/finishing my workweek, I WILL BE ON A BUS TO ROCHESTER and I do happen to have next week off from work LOL

only on update days, my liege :)

  6. Jim

That may be the scariest damn thing I’ve ever seen. Who are the other two on the ends?

  7. Ben

First time we’ve seen Peanuts characters other than Weapon Brown and Snoop, since the first comic book.

May I also say that Spike looks unusually horrifying even by this strip’s standards. Well done, sir, well done.

    Snooo-ooo-ooopy
Where oh where do you roam?
    Snooo-ooo-ooopy
    Snooo-ooo-ooopy
    Come home, Snoopy, come home.

Anyone else remember that song from the old cartoons?

Captcha reason not to rob a donut shop: presume sheriffs

  9. sentroller

Holy Fucking fucks. JY you are blowing my mind with this unbelievable and mesmerising strip. Love the opening scene with the Baron (Snoop) shot down behind enemy lines, each part of th scene broguht so much to it, fromt eh bullet holes to the goggle, to the family reunion, Spike, nothing can be said about spike. simple amazing. One question, do you want every on to call you “my leige” or just punx?

  10. willy626

Holy shit. I was not expecting this. That’s genuinely terrifying.

  11. JY

    @Sentroller

My Liege, My Lord, My God…whatever works for you.

  12. lkjsdfklj

JY, just on days when new awesomeness is promised

  13. lkjsdflkj

Is the “come home” a reference to Snoopy’s family, how he was adopted by Chuck and never really knew his brothers other than Spike?

Also, who are the dogs in the last picture? I take it they’re from another comic? Missing the reference here. Someone please chip in and explain

  14. punx

@lkjsdflkj: My take is this is Snoop’s version of “going into the light” but the last image makes me think Snoop will snap out of it, wake up and be fixed up and ready to rumble…

  15. Jor

Wow. DHPF was even more messed up than I thought.

  16. Moonie

@lkjsdflkj: They are all his siblings~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoopy's_siblings If you’re bored.

  17. lkjslkdfj

punx : that is how I interpreted it as well, but I’m curious who the three dogs are in the last slide. One is obviously Spike, as you can see from the second last frame (the hat) and the last frame (hat + m’stache) but I do not recognize the other two dogs.

Snoop is gonna get back up and kick some serious ass. Go SNOOP! GO CHUCK!

  18. lkjslkdfj

Nevermind – just pulled this up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoopy%27s_siblings

I wasn’t aware that Snoopy knew his other siblings.. I thought spike was the only one he knew.

  19. lkjslkdfj

Moonie – just saw your comment now. My bad! :)

  20. Mad Whiskey Grin

Man…. Doggie Heaven kind of sucks….

  21. jammit

Light. Yes light. Light is always good. Always go towards the light, right?

  22. Jivesauce

Been a reader for some time now, first time poster. Just gotta say, this was brilliant. I’ve loved the story thus far, but I think the tie-ins to the original with this were awesome.

  23. SquashedFox

So it’s Spike in the fedora, Olaf in the back, Marbles (with the holes in his ears) on the right, and Andy (with the scruffy ears) on the left?

  24. Sherlock_Watson

So far you’ve made references to “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Snoopy Come Home”; I guess we’ll soon be seeing WB asking if anyone can tell him the true meaning of barbecuing assholes. 8)

Just please don’t reference “Flashbeagle”; I don’t know what Mr. Schulz was thinking when he allowed it to be done, but it wasn’t a thing to be proud of.

  25. espensor

This is the best page yet! I love the wrecked Sopwith Camel. Wish we could see him flying that thing around. I’d buy a poster of that.

  26. Xantesfire

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoopy%27s_siblings
I was hoping we would see his siblings alive later on. But this is a dream sequence so they still might be.

  27. Catya

    Hahaha,that is awesome!!

  28. McNugget

Here’s the famous world war one flying ace down behind enemy lines…dandruff expecte

  29. pakopako

That was the coolest and scariest things I’ve seen in black and white in a long while.

The family looks better in the last panel (and by “better”, I mean more defined and closer to our world’s counterparts) than the previous, where they seem… like out a Marmaduke comic.

I’ve never seen Marbles, so I had to Wiki who that even was. I initially thought those spots were holes. But ever think of leaving behind clues of World War 3, that homicidal cat we never saw?

  30. mrgrooism

This is the money shot of the entire freaking series. A masterpiece!

  31. lkjsdf

    Friday, Friday, Friday, Friday, FRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY

    New Weapon Brown tomorrow!!!

  32. Richard

What’s that thing poking up from Snoopy’s left front leg in the first frame? It appears to be his scarf yet it also appears to defying gravity.

  33. lkjlkjsdf

    get up Snoop!!

  34. Lonnie Easterling

Hmm. Is there a possibility of seeing a weaponized Marcie as a World War I era nurse to help bring Snoop back to health?

  35. punx

@Lonnie: You must be new here….:)

  36. Josh Sinsapaugh

    Holy shit.

    That’s amazing.

    …I can’t even attempt to make a witty comment…

  37. JY

Glad y’all like this installment. I was pretty pleased myself :)

  38. punx

2/25/10: AIEEE! Sorry,Blockheads! An illustration project dropped in my lap yesterday that I could not refuse. Friday’s strip WILL be up first thing Saturday morning, I swear!
You are lucky we just got hit by a blizzard and Greyhound is out of service…..long enough for you to get the update up and avoid the wrath of me coming to Rochester…you sick evil demigod you :)

  39. lkjlkjsdf

JY, they’re all great, but this is one of the strips that is a cut above the rest for all of the WB strips. Looking forward to Saturday.

  40. sentroller

Aggg…You Bastard, I was forced to spend the entire day with my mother -in-law , listening to her drival and her suggestion about what I should do with my life, the only thing I had to look forward to is a WB update and now it will not be up till SATURday. Can anything else go wrong?

sniff sniff, I’m sorry my liege I shall punish myself now:( Oh wait I spent the day with my MOther in law that is punishment enough haha Looking forward to my Saturday Cartoons and now an Weapon Brown update, a perfect Saturday :) I really should grow up…Nah

  41. espensor

You know what happens when updates are late? Snoop gets shot down over France. The Red Baron triumphs again.
    That’s what happens.

  42. Insane Sophist

o_o; Olaf and Spike scare the living shit out of me, I’m not gonna lie.

  43. JY

I’m sorry for the lateness, folks! Circumstances beyond my etc. blah blah work related yatta yatta a friend just loaned me Portal and so on and so forth.

Anyway, I am sorry Sentroller had to spend time with his mother-in-law because of me. It breaks my heart to delay the strip for even a picosecond, but sometimes daddy has to bend over and perform some hated paying work!

  44. Matt Davis

I’m surprised nobody noticed that the first panel with all of them — before we see what they look like in the final panel — is suspisciously like the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm.

Wow. DHPF was even more messed up than I thought.

Sorry, you are 2 days, 8 hours and 40 minutes late with that, go to the end of the line and start over LOL

  46. pakopako

Have to say again, that crashed doghouse really hit the spot.
I also say that because the capcha is too good to miss: testis appeared

(and that went away because I took too long; it’s now “leaders pickaxed”)

  47. ddl

What an absolutely incredible take on the Snoopy clan. Bullet holes instead of spots…that’s awesome.
