Interesting how the shadows in the first panel make the pointy haired one look like satan next to a coffin. though if that was the intent I am having trouble figuring what the wizards shadow is supposed to look like. Heck maybe Im just imagining things

It does look like that, but I doubt the wizard’s shadow means anything. All I *do* know is the last panel looks like the wizard got the worst money shot ever.

Ducky – it could be the outhouse, cresent moon and star, like how hart had in his famous comic: http://wondermark.com/the-comic-strip-doctor-bc/
It, Hart’s comic, was a huge dig at Islam and Muslims.

My first thought on the Wizard’s shadow was a board with a bent nail in it. Where’s Rorschach when you need him.

I thought the Wizard’s shadow resembled the Grim Reaper, actually

The Wizard’s shadow looks like it might be a crow, or some other \evil\ bird.
Now that the IDjits are receiving info about the underground society, things are going to happen. The Comicpocalypse approacheth. (Thunder in background)
We all know, of course, that good ol’ Weapon Brown will survive the coming firestorm, but who else? Maybe Sam (from “Sam’s Strip”), who will turn out to be the one reading the whole thing like an all-watching god, and maybe Opus, who just keeps coming back. Only time and huge amounts of violence will tell.
– Captcha has the basics for an army: soldiers general.

Bonus strip makes my week. My bet’s on Dennis the Menace.

TrekNoid, that’s probably a very good observation — Death on both sides of a coffin. (Also, probably an unintentional bit by JW.)
However, I do like what’s going on in the pit; Haggar has Dennis in a rear bear hug!
were rankine

I still think it is a reference to Hart’s Islam (vertical “slam”) comic with the crescent moon (horns) above in the air where it should be, an outhouse (king) in between the moon and the hole, and a turd falling (wizard).

I am gravely disappointed. Again you have made me unleash my dogs of war. No! – No more talk! We go in! We kill! Kill! We kill ‘em! They kill us, we kill them! Kill ‘em! Kill ‘em! Kill! Kill!

His ghost skeleton-thing has returned!!
HOW DOES IT FEEL???!!?!?

I’m actually quite happy to see that I’m not the only one here who noticed the shadows. One of the things I really dig about this comic are the tiny little things JY will sorta hide in there, like the tiny little cameos or the references. This, however, is far more traditionally symbolic. I think it has to do, in part, with their conversation. Horns talks about trapping the soul, which has obvious Satanic influences, while King sorta has a psychological hardon for entrapment, claustraphobia, etc, which sorta brings up the whole coffin dealio.
As for the Wizard, I have no idea. Maybe it’s a hard-on, following Destruya’s theory.

Want bonus strip … now!
Captcha wants bonus strip too (with Chuck bashing someone?): head exposure

In retrospect after the next strip… the shadows of the three characters, plus the shadows on the stairs at the end, suggest the word “hope”. (It does require some pretty willful thinking to get “p” out of the wizard’s hat (I know, I know: just turn it upside down).)
