My non-electrician comprehension of the watt as a unit of power per second made me think it was describing the total output.  4,000 joules over a second.  But, what the general really meant, no doubt, was that these batteries of undefined capacity were capable of a continuous output (wired in parallel) of 4,000 watts total.  Hopefully for more than a second, since Brown doesn't seem like a forgiving sort :)</description>

I'll assume that's big C calories.  Which means that month or two of food packs way more energy.
Unless Watt is short for MegaWatt or GigaWatt.</description>
